The Gelato Bar, located on Above Bar Street, opened in late October. After much success and popularity with families and students in the Portswood area, the store opened just in time for half term for those living centrally.
As a huge fan of Ice Cream/Gelato/Sorbet and anything dessert related, I certainly wasn't disappointed! I had Watermelon sorbet, Mango Sorbet and Double Chocolate Ice Cream. They were all yummy, especially the Watermelon sorbet, I was very impressed with the range of flavours available. At £4.50 for 3 scoops, it isn't the cheapest of places to eat, but the scoops were certainly generous.
I was very happy with the service at the new Southampton bar, although I felt the opening may have been slightly rushed - you could see the it wasn't completely finished. For example there were no doors to the toilets. The staff were happy to help us and seemed to handle the busy half term chaos quickly and efficiently.
I am not sure how well Sprinkles will cope with other Southampton Ice Cream bars in Southampton, such as Tooti's in Bedford Place and Artie's further along the High Street, but so far they are certainly doing well!
I would definitely recommend Sprinkles as a place to bring the kids for special treats or for a reward after a long day at uni. I was very satisfied with my visit, although I will have to make occasional visits on a student budget!
